Why Compass?

A compass, I learned when I was surveying, it’ll … it’ll point you true north from where you’re standing, but is has no advice about the swamps, deserts and chasms that you’ll encounter along the way. If in pursuit of your destinations you plunge heedless of obstacles, and achieved nothing more that to sink a swamp…. what’s the use of knowing true north? The movie Lincoln, 2012

I stay true to the compass as it guides me to my end result, but I must remember to keep my head on a swivel, to look up, down, right and left, to take in guidance, to ensure the path is able to be traveled and sustainable. Many times it is not a straight path, but one of the twists, turns, cutting into the landscape, building bridges to continue the journey toward my objective.

I have since added content on this site around my personal likes and experiences.  These things often affect our compass and often it has brought life to various technologies and their use.  I found my previous single approach not fulfilling the entire value of this blog site.

This blog is about setting the compass, while we also develop the plans for Paths for Using Technology Wisely.   Setting technology in place without ensuring it is a method to achieve the whole solution is irresponsible. Even if progress proves a solution works, it will soon become broken. We must be responsible for these innovations as their effect can be widely felt.

I am hoping this site will become a place to seek out solutions, to learn of solutions outside of our normal paths.  Growth among a strong team provides a multitude of opportunities.
